Mark P. Smith is a Vice President of the Center for American and International law.  He serves as Dean of the Center’s Academy of American and International law, and directs the Center’s Institute for International and Comparative Law and its Institute for Local Government Studies.  He is also responsible for the Center’s programs on Actual Innocence.  Mark previously was the Executive Director of The West Virginia State Bar and served as Assistant to the Executive Director of the American Bar Association.  He has chaired the Dallas Committee for International Visitors and was President of the Volunteer Center of Collin County.  He has taught public sector strategic planning and contemporary American conflicts at the University of Texas at Dallas and serves on the Board of the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth.   Mark received an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and a law degree from Yale University.
