The
New Institute for Energy Law - It's More Than A New
Name
The
energy industry is evolving, and so are we. Historically
focused on the oil and gas industry as the International
Oil and Gas Educational Center, the organization's new
name - the Institute for Energy Law of the Center for
American and International Law (IEL) - reflects its
recent decision to expand its scope to serve not only
oil and gas lawyers but lawyers and professionals in
all other areas of domestic and international energy
law as well.
Our
expansion plans include important changes in the membership
activities and programs of the Institute:
-
Membership dues are lower and membership benefits
are greater;
- Advisory
Board membership has been revised to allow more representatives
from energy companies and firms to participate;
- The
Advisory Board's Executive Committee has been reorganized
and enlarged to offer more opportunities for leadership
within the Institute to oil and gas lawyers as well
as to lawyers in other fields of energy law;
- New
committees of the Advisory Board have been created
to guide future programs and activities, including
committees on:
- Oil
and Gas
- International
- Power/Energy
Marketing and Trading
- Alternate
Energy
- Coal
- Nuclear
The
IEL will continue to serve as an important forum on
contemporary legal issues affecting the oil and gas
industry as we expand our programs and membership to
better serve other areas of domestic and international
energy law as well. Please join
us and help guide this evolution.
